Summer

The last few weeks I have realized that I can't wait for summer vacation to come. With all the stress that comes along with school, and all the drama that comes with school. Summer vacation is a time where I can get away from all of it.

Although my summer will not be that interesting it will still be a break from school. I will probably spend most of my time working. I will be scoring basketball games for my dad's varsity basketball leauge, and working at culvers. Working is where I can get the money I need for school, and most of the time I enjoy who I am working with.

One of my vacations that I am taking this year is I am going to Ohio. I am going there the 4th of July weekend for my brothers baseball tournament. But I think that I am more excited to see my friends that live in Ohio than watching my brother play. My friends in Ohio are like my second family who I haven't seen in about a year.

After my trip out there, it will be back to Wisconsin to keep working. There might be a trip up to Grantsbug with some friends, and maybe the Mall of America. Even though my trips wont be long it will still be a break, and then in the fall, I will be ready to come back to school.

Distractions while driving

When driving on the road how hard is it to stay focused. There are many distractions now. There is either changing the music, checking your phone or even talking to someone in the car with you.

I was coming back to school one night and was driving on the freeway. There was a semi next to me and saw that i was in the middle lane. Next thing i knew he was trying to come into my lane while i was still in that lane. I was wondering what he was doing that he didn't see me, he had just seen me because i saw him look in his side mirror.

Another time I was sitting at a stop sign waiting my turn to go. Next thing I know the car behind me rear ended me. I found out that the person was checking their phone and had thought that i had already went through the intersection.

I think that if we had less distractions in the car it would make people safer drivers. People just need to pay attention to what they are doing and not worry about what else is going on until they get done driving. Less distractions would mean fewer accidents, and less to worry about on the road.

Family Gatherings

Coming from a small family, family get togethers are usually a must do thing. Whether it is a major holiday like Christmas, or Easter, or even to something small like one of my uncle's parties we are expected to be there. If we are not there or show up late, my grandma starts yelling at us or starts asking us where we were.

Last year for Christmas my cousin came late. As soon as he walked in the door my grandma started yelling at him saying "You tell ur friends that Christmas Eve I spend with my grandma." I can see where she is coming from on that Christmas should be a family time.

But my uncle also has parties that are at his house. These parties are not just for the family. Sometimes if we come to them we are expected to do everything that he has there, and not just supposed to come and sit. I don't think that these types of things should be mandatory. If you don't show up to one of the parties my uncle starts complaining.

I think that making a big deal about these little things is starting to pull the family farther apart. I think that they should just be happy if we come and not worry if we don't. I think that the family would get along better and there wouldn't be as much tension.

Distance

When you go to college there can be some difficulties. One is that you might start to get home sick. Some others are that the classes are harder than you expected.

One of my friends lives 6 hours away, and whenever a break comes close or she just got back from a break she starts complaing. She starts telling me and some of my other friends that we don't know how it feels to go home and then have to come back. She tells us that we don't know how it feels to miss our family.

Another one of my friends brother is seven years older than she is. So he was in college when she was in middle school, and she never got to see her brother because he went to school out of state. Now he lives out of state and comes back to wisconsin like once or twice a year.

My older cousin who is like my sister moved out to colorado. That is where he husband was born and raised so she moved out there. Now my famliy is lucky if we see her twice a year.

People do understand what it is like to miss family. It may not seem like we do because most of our family is close enough to school that if we need to we can go home. But she thinks that because most of our family lives close we don't understand what it is like not to have any family close.

Easter

Every Easter at my house it is the same thing. Go to my mom's church for breakfast, got to church, then go back to the house. After we have been at my house we go to my dad's brothers house.

This year my dad's other brother went to mexico for Easter. My uncle got mad at them for not telling him more in advance that they weren't coming. The uncle that went to mexico told him around christmas time that they wouldn't be there for Easter.

I think that my one uncle over reacted to what the other one did. He knows that they never let people know ahead of time if they are coming to things or not. So he should have been used to not knowing.

I know that Easter is an important holiday,but I don't think that it is one that should be over reacted about if some one misses it. I think that it would be fun to go somewhere as a family for Easter wold be good. That way no one can be mad at each other for missing the holiday, and we will be together as a family.

Different Religion

One thing that a lot of people don't know about me is that I am catholic. I was baptized,took communion and was confirmed Catholic. My family is mixed, my dad and I are catholic and my mom and my brother are Lutheran.

When people find out that I am Catholic,they ask why I have gone to a Lutheran school since i was in second grade. They ask why I didn't go to a Catholic school,and why am I still in a Lutheran school. They also ask why I am the one that is Catholic.

When people find out they ask me if there is anything really that different. A lot of times there isn't that much different between Catholics and Lutherans. As Catholic's we believe that Mary has an important role in our faith,and Lutherans she is important,but not as important.

What I want people to understand is that you can go to a school that is a different domination than what you are. You just have to be ready to answer questions that people ask you. Like why did you choose here,what is so different than what we believe. I have enjoyed going to a private school just to growth in my faith,even if the schools that I have gone to are not the domination that I am.

Summer Sports

Have you ever heard the prices it is to play for a travel team? Why are you actually paying that amount of money? Is it worth it to pay that much? Is playing that much, really worth the amount you are paying?

During the summer I don't think that my family is ever home. My brother for the last 4 years has been on a traveling baseball team. While he was on a baseball team,I played on a club softball team.

Last year for my brothers team,he had a tournament almost every weekend. He had only a couple in Wisconsin, and the rest where out of state. He went to Ohio,Michigan,Iowa,and Georgia. Where as my softball team only stayed in the state, but we also had a tournament every weekend.

In order for me and my brother to do these teams our parents had to put out a lot of money. This summer for my brother to play it will cost around 600 dollars. We were told that if our parents were going to pay all this money we better enjoy it,and work our hardest. I think that in order to play a sport in the summer you have to be really dedicated. You have to be able to know that your whole summer is basically going to be that sport and that you aren't really going to have any free time. For the 2 summers that i played i really enjoyed it, it might be just because i love the sport, and never really got sick of playing.

Spring Break

A lot of people think that to have fun on spring break you have to go somewhere warm. I dont think that it is always true. I was supposed to go Alabama with my family but my brothers spring break is a week later than mine so i ended up going to a friends house.

I went to my friends house who lives in Grantsburg Wisconsin. It is a small town, where everyone nows everyone pretty much. While we slept most of the time it was still fun. We met a lot of her friends from high school and most of her family lives there so we met a lot of those people to.

Even though it wasn't my first choice on where to go I still had a lot of fun. We ended up going to mall of america one day. We went bowling. We also just spent time at her house just relaxing and getting away from school.

I think one of the main reasons that we have spring breaks is to get away from school. It is a time for us to relax and and take a break. I think that spring break is a good idea, I just wish that more schools would match up their breaks so you could see some of your friends that you haven't seen in awhile.

Every other year since i was nine and my brother was seven we have gone to Walt Disney World. We would spend a week there, on the grounds and would go to every park more than once. We are at Disney were are always doing something, we never have time just to relax we are always on the go. By the end of the week everyone would be tired and would be ready to go home.

While we were in Disney my uncle would find tours of different parks for us to go on. We went on a tour of Magic Kingdom, saving everyone there from Captin Hook. We went on a train tour and got to go behind the scences and see where all the trains are kept for Magic Kingdom, and how many different ones there are. We went on a tour at Animal Kingdom, and got to see what all the trainers do there with the animals, and why certain rides where made for that park.

When we go to Disney it is a family vacation, almost my whole dad's side of the family goes. Everyone is starting to get sick of going to Florida every year except for my one uncle who can't get enough of it. We have tried getting him to go to Disneyland but he won't, so no one in the family really wants to go anymore.

I think that if we went somewhere else for a family vacation everyone would be happy. Everyone wants to do something new not what we have done for the last however many times we have had a family vacation. I think that we all just need a break from Disney,we just want to go somewhere we can relax, and not always doing something.

The choosing of Referees

Have you ever been to a basketball game,or some sort of sporting event that the referees where just bad? Did you know that all they have to do is take one test,and then they can get their lisence. I don't think that this is a good way to get find referees.

The last couple of basketball games i have been to, the refs have been really bad. They were calling fouls that didn't even occur. They would anticipate what the girls were going to do even before the play came. The game i went to last night the fouls were 14-5 in the first half,and some of the fouls that they called did not exist.

Another thing that bothers me is when refs make things up for the things they missed on the other end. It seems that they sometimes think that doing that will make things better than what they did to the game before hand. Some times the refs just need to let the kids play, they are there to make sure that things don't get to out of control,but they can't stop because of every little thing that happens to someone.

I dont think that reading a book and taking a test should be able to make you a referee. I think that you should have some experience in the game,either by playing it or coaching it. I think that gives you more of a feel for what is going on in the game, not just reading a book and knowing the rules. If you have played the game, you might have a better understanding of what the players are thinking when they are doing that. I think that officiating would be better in a lot of the sports if they did something like that.

Seatbelt Law

You are running late and just get into the car and don't have time to put on our seatbelt. Next thing you know you are gettting pulled over for not having your seatbelt on and you are getting a ticket. Do you think that the law enforcement should make you wear a seatbelt or should it be your personal opinion.

There are two types of seatbelt laws, there are primary and there are secondary laws. The primary say that you can get a ticket for not wearing your seatbelt, with no other traffic violations. The secondary law says that the law enfrocement can only issue at ticket for not wearing your seatbelt if there is another traffic violation.

Not wearing your seatbelt leads to some of the most traffic deaths. About 63% of people die in a car crash a year because they do not wear their seatbelt. If people start to buckle up we will prevent over 5,000 deaths, and 132,000 injuries.

I think that the seatbelt law is a good thing. It is meant to keep people safe. I also think that it is totally up to the person if they want to wear it or not. They are making their own choice for their saftey.

I dont think that you should get a ticket for not wearing your seatbelt though. I think that once again it is your choice, not the law enforcements. So i think that wearing a seatbelt is a good thing, i dont think that you should be forced to wear one and end up having to pay if you dont wear your seatbelt.

Should attendance in college be mandatory?

Should people be forced to go to classes in college? Or should the students be able to choose what they want to do? If they do not come to classes should the professor down grade them, or not care because it is their choice if they come or not.

I think that for some classes the professors should make it mandatory. If you are in a lab it is hard to catch up on what you missed that day,and you will be behind for the next class. I think that if it is a lecture that it is up to you.

You are now an adult and have to make decisions for yourself. If you dont go to class you are only hurting your self in the long run, and will be behind in certain classes. You learn responsibility now that you are on your own. You make your own choices, and it is up to you what you want to do with your education.

Some people may say that they dont have to go to class because it is their chioce on what they don in the class. They may say that they will do better if they just get notes from someone else and not go to class. I think that it is totally up to the student and that the professor should let the student determine their own grade. If they dont come to class they are determing their own grade by showing that they dont want to learn things.
